The Purpose of our Charity<\/b><\/span> \u00a0 – is \u00a0 to manage\u00a0 a\u00a0 playing\u00a0 field\u00a0 (and\u00a0 if\u00a0 constructed\u00a0 a\u00a0 village\u00a0 hall). The Field\u00a0 has\u00a0 been\u00a0 provided\u00a0 by\u00a0 The\u00a0 Charity\u00a0 for\u00a0 the\u00a0 people\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 Parish\u00a0 of\u00a0 Bewholme which\u00a0 includes\u00a0 Nunkeeling and\u00a0 Dunnington. It\u00a0 is\u00a0 intended for recreational and leisure activities to promote \u00a0 social welfare\u00a0 with the object of improving the\u00a0 conditions\u00a0 of\u00a0 life\u00a0 for\u00a0 the people\u00a0 who\u00a0 live\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 parish\u00a0 in\u00a0 accordance\u00a0 with\u00a0 principals\u00a0 of\u00a0 equality. \u00a0 There\u00a0 is\u00a0 also\u00a0 a\u00a0 Land\u00a0 Covenant\u00a0 that\u00a0 restricts\u00a0 the\u00a0 use of\u00a0 the land to\u00a0 \u2018public\u00a0 open\u00a0 space. \u2018 \u00a0<\/p>

The\u00a0 Village\u00a0 Field\u00a0 has\u00a0 remained\u00a0 open\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 Public\u00a0 all\u00a0 year\u00a0 and\u00a0 has\u00a0 been\u00a0 used\u00a0 by\u00a0 local children &\u00a0 young\u00a0 people,\u00a0 visitors,\u00a0 picnickers\u00a0 and joggers.\u00a0 We\u00a0 have organised\u00a0 recreational\u00a0 events\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 Field\u00a0 and\u00a0 Church\u00a0 which\u00a0 have\u00a0 been\u00a0 free\u00a0 entry\u00a0 and\u00a0 attended\u00a0 by\u00a0 people\u00a0 of\u00a0 all\u00a0 ages and\u00a0 accessed\u00a0 by\u00a0 people\u00a0 with\u00a0 disabilities.\u00a0<\/p>

Our\u00a0 largest\u00a0 event\u00a0 was a Dog\u00a0 Show\u00a0 and\u00a0 Craft\u00a0 Fair that\u00a0 was\u00a0 attended\u00a0 by\u00a0 over\u00a0 220\u00a0 people\u00a0 and showcased \u00a0 the\u00a0 crafts\u00a0 local people have\u00a0 produced. It was an enjoyable event for\u00a0 dog\u00a0 owners\u00a0 and\u00a0 provided\u00a0 an\u00a0 opportunity\u00a0 for\u00a0 neighbours\u00a0 to\u00a0 meet\u00a0 who\u00a0 have\u00a0 not\u00a0 seen\u00a0 each\u00a0 other\u00a0 for\u00a0 years. \u00a0<\/p>

This meets the\u00a0 Public\u00a0 Benefit\u00a0 Requirement<\/i><\/b>\u00a0 of\u00a0 a\u00a0 Charity.<\/p>

<\/p>

The\u00a0 Main\u00a0 Tasks\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 Charity<\/b><\/span><\/p>

1.Maintaining\u00a0 the Village\u00a0 Field<\/b><\/p>

We\u00a0 started with\u00a0 the\u00a0 \u2018Bewholme\u00a0 Blitz\u2019 where we \u00a0 sorted\u00a0 out\u00a0 the\u00a0 shed\u00a0 and \u00a0 managed\u00a0 to find\u00a0 enough\u00a0 parts\u00a0 to\u00a0 put\u00a0 one\u00a0 Marquee\u00a0 together.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>

The\u00a0 next\u00a0 challenge\u00a0 was\u00a0 to\u00a0 cut\u00a0 a\u00a0 very overgrown Hedge. This was completed at no\u00a0 cost to\u00a0 the\u00a0 charity\u00a0 thanks\u00a0 to\u00a0 Tom\u00a0 Elliott of\u00a0 Elliott\u00a0 Eggs.\u00a0 \u00a0 The Elliotts\u00a0 also\u00a0 generously\u00a0 donated new\u00a0 football\u00a0 posts\u00a0 and nets, kindly\u00a0 installed\u00a0 them,\u00a0 rolled the\u00a0 pitch\u00a0 and\u00a0 pressure washed\u00a0 the\u00a0 gates. \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>

Flooding\u00a0 was\u00a0 a\u00a0 problem\u00a0 during\u00a0 the\u00a0 winter.\u00a0 We\u00a0 resorted\u00a0 to\u00a0 pumping\u00a0 some\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 water\u00a0 out\u00a0 and Yorkshire\u00a0 Water\u00a0 unblocked\u00a0 a\u00a0 drain which\u00a0 helped,\u00a0 but\u00a0 part of\u00a0 the\u00a0 field\u00a0 was\u00a0 still regularly\u00a0 flooded. \u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0Grass\u00a0 cutting\u00a0 by the\u00a0 contractor,\u00a0 though\u00a0 vital, has\u00a0 never\u00a0 been frequent enough\u00a0 to\u00a0 avoid occasional\u00a0 accumulation\u00a0 of\u00a0 mulch.\u00a0 Due\u00a0 to\u00a0 higher\u00a0 than\u00a0 normal\u00a0 temperatures\u00a0 last\u00a0 the winter,\u00a0 the\u00a0 grass\u00a0 continued\u00a0 to\u00a0 grow\u00a0 and\u00a0 the\u00a0 excessive\u00a0 rain\u00a0 meant\u00a0 the\u00a0 field\u00a0 was\u00a0 waterlogged. \u00a0 Fortunately\u00a0 Mr\u00a0 &\u00a0 Mrs\u00a0 Proctor made a\u00a0 timely\u00a0 donation of one\u00a0 ride on\u00a0 and one\u00a0 push\u00a0 along\u00a0 mower.\u00a0 After\u00a0 some repairs, we\u00a0 were\u00a0 able\u00a0 to\u00a0 cut\u00a0 the\u00a0 grass\u00a0 when\u00a0 the\u00a0 contractor\u00a0 was getting\u00a0 stuck\u00a0 with larger\u00a0 equipment. \u00a0 Additional cuts have stopped\u00a0 mulch\u00a0 accumulating. \u00a0<\/p>

A\u00a0 Welcome\u00a0 sign\u00a0 was purchased\u00a0 from\u00a0 Yorkshire\u00a0 Made. This was\u00a0 funded\u00a0 by\u00a0 Lisa Bettison ( Parish Counsellor) from\u00a0 proceeds\u00a0 made by\u00a0 her\u00a0 book \u2018The\u00a0 Bewholme Scrap\u00a0 Book.\u00a0<\/p>

Trustees\u00a0 and\u00a0 Volunteers \u00a0 have\u00a0 worked\u00a0 together\u00a0 to repair\u00a0 the\u00a0 shed,\u00a0 maintain\u00a0 picnic\u00a0 tables\u00a0 and fences and make\u00a0 regular\u00a0 safety\u00a0 inspections. \u00a0 Thanks\u00a0 to\u00a0 a\u00a0 donation\u00a0 of\u00a0 wood\u00a0 chip\u00a0 a small\u00a0 seating\u00a0 area\u00a0 has\u00a0 been\u00a0 made\u00a0 near\u00a0 the\u00a0 gate. \u00a0<\/p>

Use\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 Village\u00a0 Field\u00a0 has\u00a0 increased\u00a0 following\u00a0 the\u00a0 improvements\u00a0 and\u00a0 the\u00a0 better\u00a0 weather.\u00a0 We\u00a0 are\u00a0 pleased\u00a0 to\u00a0 report\u00a0 that\u00a0 there\u00a0 has\u00a0 been\u00a0 no\u00a0 vandalism\u00a0 over\u00a0 the\u00a0 past\u00a0 year,\u00a0 no serious\u00a0 incidents were\u00a0 reported and there has\u00a0 been very little\u00a0 litter\u00a0 to\u00a0 pick up.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>

Safety\u00a0 has\u00a0 been\u00a0 improved\u00a0 by\u00a0 the placement\u00a0 of\u00a0 warning\u00a0 signs\u00a0 for\u00a0 the pond and ditch\u00a0 and\u00a0 filling\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 gaps\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 fencing\u00a0 around\u00a0 the\u00a0 pond\u00a0 and\u00a0 ditch.<\/p>

2. Insurance<\/b> \u00a0 – Public\u00a0 Liability\u00a0 Insurance continues\u00a0 to\u00a0 be\u00a0 purchased\u00a0 from\u00a0 Zurich\u00a0 Insurance\u00a0 Ltd.\u00a0 We have\u00a0 also\u00a0 purchased\u00a0 additional\u00a0 insurance\u00a0 to\u00a0 cover\u00a0 Trustees\u00a0 as\u00a0 advised\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 Deed\u00a0 of\u00a0 Trust.\u00a0 Hopefully , this\u00a0 will\u00a0 encourage\u00a0 people\u00a0 to \u00a0 volunteer\u00a0 as\u00a0 Trustee\u2019s\u00a0 in\u00a0 future. \u00a0 \u00a0 It\u00a0 should\u00a0 be\u00a0 noted\u00a0 that\u00a0 no\u00a0 property\u00a0 is\u00a0 insured.\u00a0 We\u00a0 are\u00a0 now\u00a0 covered\u00a0 for\u00a0 a\u00a0 group\u00a0 of\u00a0 volunteers\u00a0 to\u00a0 use\u00a0 the\u00a0 ride\u00a0 on\u00a0 mower\u00a0 once\u00a0 a\u00a0 robust\u00a0 risk\u00a0 assessment\u00a0 is\u00a0 in\u00a0 place.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>

3. Banking<\/b> \u2013 We\u00a0 continue\u00a0 to\u00a0 bank\u00a0 with Lloyds\u00a0 and\u00a0 the\u00a0 signatories\u00a0 have\u00a0 been\u00a0 transferred\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 new\u00a0 committee.\u00a0<\/p>

4. Fund Raising &\u00a0 Recreational Events, –\u00a0 <\/b>Our\u00a0 First\u00a0 Event\u00a0 was\u00a0 \u2018Fun\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 Field\u2019.\u00a0 It\u00a0 took\u00a0 place\u00a0 on\u00a0 the\u00a0 hottest\u00a0 day\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 year.\u00a0 Although\u00a0 those\u00a0 who\u00a0 volunteered\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 Morning\u00a0 for the\u00a0 \u2018Bewholme\u00a0 Blitz\u2019 stayed on,\u00a0 no\u00a0 one\u00a0 felt\u00a0 like\u00a0 running\u00a0 around. \u00a0 Our Christmas\u00a0 Light\u00a0 Switch\u00a0 on\u00a0 and\u00a0 songs\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 Church\u00a0 was \u00a0 attended by\u00a0 about\u00a0 80\u00a0 people. We\u00a0 owe\u00a0 special\u00a0 thanks\u00a0 to\u00a0 Santa\u00a0 and\u00a0 his\u00a0 elves who provided\u00a0 sweets, put\u00a0 up\u00a0 lights \u00a0 and \u00a0 prepared\u00a0 the\u00a0 refreshments.\u00a0 \u00a0 The\u00a0 Fun\u00a0 Dog\u00a0 Show\u00a0 and\u00a0 Craft\u00a0 Fair\u00a0 raised\u00a0 over\u00a0 \u00a31,100,\u00a0 There\u00a0 were\u00a0 10\u00a0 craft\u00a0 stalls.\u00a0 We\u00a0 are very\u00a0 grateful\u00a0 to\u00a0 local\u00a0 businesses\u00a0 who\u00a0 sponsored\u00a0 us, all\u00a0 the\u00a0 volunteers\u00a0 who\u00a0 helped\u00a0 out, everyone\u00a0 who\u00a0 donated\u00a0 tombola\u00a0 prizes\u00a0 and\u00a0 everyone\u00a0 who\u00a0 attended\u00a0 and\u00a0 made\u00a0 it\u00a0 a\u00a0 wonderful\u00a0 day.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>

Volunteering<\/b><\/span> –\u00a0 <\/b>Over\u00a0 30\u00a0 people\u00a0 have\u00a0 volunteered\u00a0 during\u00a0 the\u00a0 year. \u00a0 <\/b>From baking\u00a0 cakes to putting\u00a0 up\u00a0 Marquees. N.\u00a0 Alyott has\u00a0 done a\u00a0 fantastic job\u00a0 setting up\u00a0 email,\u00a0 Facebook\u00a0 and\u00a0 Instagram\u00a0 and\u00a0 organising\u00a0 the\u00a0 Craft\u00a0 Show.\u00a0 Lesley\u00a0 Butler\u00a0 \u00a0 on\u00a0 behind\u00a0 the\u00a0 scenes. A\u00a0 lot\u00a0 of\u00a0 money\u00a0 has\u00a0 been\u00a0 saved\u00a0 because\u00a0 people\u00a0 have\u00a0 lent\u00a0 equipment like\u00a0 the\u00a0 large\u00a0 Marquee, donated\u00a0 their\u00a0 professional\u00a0 services\u00a0 like\u00a0 hedge cutting\u00a0 or\u00a0 made donations\u00a0 of\u00a0 things\u00a0 like\u00a0 fuel and printing.\u00a0 \u00a0 We\u00a0 are\u00a0 very\u00a0 grateful\u00a0 for all\u00a0 the\u00a0 support. \u00a0<\/p>

St\u00a0 John\u00a0 the\u00a0 Baptist\u00a0 Church<\/b>\u00a0 – \u00a0 The\u00a0 Parochial\u00a0 Council\u00a0 has\u00a0 been\u00a0 very\u00a0 supportive\u00a0 by\u00a0 allowing\u00a0 us\u00a0 to\u00a0 use\u00a0 the\u00a0 Church\u00a0 for\u00a0 meetings\u00a0 and\u00a0 events\u00a0 without\u00a0 any\u00a0 charge.\u00a0 Thanks\u00a0 are\u00a0 due\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 Rev David\u00a0 Mellor\u00a0 for\u00a0 leading\u00a0 Christmas\u00a0 songs and we\u00a0 are\u00a0 also\u00a0 grateful\u00a0 for\u00a0 the\u00a0 tombola\u00a0 prizes\u00a0 donated\u00a0 by those\u00a0 attending\u00a0 the\u00a0 coffee\u00a0 mornings\u00a0 and \u00a0 Craft Sessions.\u00a0 A\u00a0 joint\u00a0 Quiz\u00a0 night\u00a0 also\u00a0 successfully raised\u00a0 funds\u00a0 for\u00a0 both\u00a0 organisations\u00a0 and\u00a0 filled\u00a0 the\u00a0 church.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>

The\u00a0 Newsletter<\/b> \u00a0 –\u00a0 We\u00a0 have\u00a0 made regular\u00a0 contributions\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 \u2018Newletter\u2019\u00a0 which\u00a0 is\u00a0 Published\u00a0 by\u00a0 St\u00a0 Augustine\u2019s\u00a0 Church\u00a0 Skirlaugh\u00a0 as a\u00a0 service\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 community. \u00a0<\/p>

Parish Council<\/b> \u00a0 – The Parish Council\u00a0 has\u00a0 continued\u00a0 to pay\u00a0 for\u00a0 grass\u00a0 cutting\u00a0 which\u00a0 is\u00a0 arranged\u00a0 by\u00a0 East Riding\u00a0 Council \u00a0 who\u00a0 sort\u00a0 out\u00a0 bids\u00a0 for\u00a0 a\u00a0 contractor.\u00a0 This is a very\u00a0 important\u00a0 contribution\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 maintenance\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 football\u00a0 field and\u00a0 parkland.\u00a0 The\u00a0 Parish\u00a0 Council\u00a0 has\u00a0 also \u00a0 successfully\u00a0 applied\u00a0 for Grants .\u00a0 A\u00a0 Lectern\u00a0 with\u00a0 information about\u00a0 the\u00a0 history\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 Village\u00a0 has\u00a0 been\u00a0 sited\u00a0 outside\u00a0 the\u00a0 entrance\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 Village\u00a0 Field,\u00a0 and\u00a0 \u00a0 a\u00a0 Commemorative\u00a0 Bench has\u00a0 been\u00a0 purchased\u00a0 which\u00a0 is\u00a0 to\u00a0 be\u00a0 sited\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 Village\u00a0 Field. \u00a0 \u00a0 The\u00a0 Parish\u00a0 Council\u00a0 have\u00a0 not\u00a0 yet\u00a0 appointed a\u00a0 trustee, but Parish\u00a0 Counsellors\u00a0 have made significant\u00a0 contributions\u00a0 by volunteering\u00a0 and\u00a0 making personal donations. \u00a0 Trustees have regularly reported \u00a0 to \u00a0 Parish Council Meetings.\u00a0 A\u00a0 page\u00a0 on\u00a0 the\u00a0 Parish\u00a0 Council\u00a0 website\u00a0 is also\u00a0 available\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 Bewholme\u00a0 Recreation\u00a0 Association. \u00a0<\/p>

Future \u00a0<\/b><\/p>

Ongoing maintenance will always\u00a0 be\u00a0 required.\u00a0 Decisions need to be\u00a0 made\u00a0 about\u00a0 the\u00a0 area\u00a0 around the \u00a0 pond and\u00a0 ditch \u00a0 with a\u00a0 view\u00a0 to\u00a0 future use and\u00a0 sustainability\u00a0 in\u00a0 relation\u00a0 to\u00a0 flooding,\u00a0 maintenance\u00a0 and\u00a0 bio diversity.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>

Options\u00a0 to\u00a0 apply\u00a0 for\u00a0 grants \u00a32,000 SSE\u00a0 and\u00a0 possibly\u00a0 \u00a35,000\u00a0 from ERYC \u00a0 need\u00a0 to\u00a0 be\u00a0 discussed which\u00a0 could\u00a0 develop the\u00a0 use\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 field\u00a0 or\u00a0 aid\u00a0 maintenance. \u00a0<\/p>

Reserve<\/b> –\u00a0 The\u00a0 main\u00a0 risks\u00a0 are\u00a0 being\u00a0 unable\u00a0 to\u00a0 fundraise\u00a0 for\u00a0 some\u00a0 unforeseen\u00a0 reason\u00a0 or\u00a0 an\u00a0 unforeseen\u00a0 expense\u00a0 such\u00a0 as\u00a0 tree\u00a0 felling.\u00a0 There are\u00a0 currently sufficient \u00a0 funds\u00a0 to\u00a0 cover\u00a0 these\u00a0 eventualities. \u00a0<\/p>

                  1. PETTY CASH\u00a0 –\u00a0 <\/strong>It\u00a0 was\u00a0 unanimously\u00a0 agreed\u00a0 to\u00a0 have\u00a0 a\u00a0 petty\u00a0 cash\u00a0 fund\u00a0 at\u00a0 the\u00a0 discretion\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 Treasurer. \u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                    1. RESERVE \u2013 <\/strong>A\u00a0 reserve\u00a0 of \u00a31,000\u00a0 was agreed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                      1. FUTURE MAINTENANCE –\u00a0 <\/strong>T. Elliott\u00a0 to\u00a0 be\u00a0 approached\u00a0 to\u00a0 cut\u00a0 hedge\u00a0 in\u00a0 autumn. Agreed\u00a0 to\u00a0 colour\u00a0 tables\u00a0 and\u00a0 try\u00a0 to\u00a0 involve\u00a0 more\u00a0 volunteers\u00a0 in\u00a0 painting.\u00a0 Debris\u00a0 and\u00a0 vegetation\u00a0 around\u00a0 drainage pond\u00a0 to\u00a0 start\u00a0 to\u00a0 be\u00a0 cleared\u00a0 avoiding\u00a0 making\u00a0 it\u00a0 more\u00a0 attractive to\u00a0 children.\u00a0 Tree\u00a0 survey\u00a0 to\u00a0 be\u00a0 completed. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                        1. FUTURE PLANS\u00a0 –<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                          11.1 To  site an  appropriately  clad  storage  container   in  the  field  depending on  cost  and  planning requirements<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          11.2  To site a D Day  Grant  bench in the  field near  the  Christmas Tree with a  small  garden  around  it.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          11.3  To  promote  bio-diversity by  siting  bee hotels & bird  boxes  etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          11.4  To  develop  a   Swop  shed  for  plants,  seeds,  books  etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          11.5  To  investigate  the  funding and  siting  of  a  play  area  with  swings.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

POLICIES & PROCEDURES\u00a0 –\u00a0 <\/strong>To\u00a0 develop\u00a0 equal\u00a0 opportunities\u00a0 policy\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 context\u00a0 of\u00a0 provision\u00a0 for\u00a0 the\u00a0 Bewholme\u00a0 Parish\u00a0 and\u00a0 other\u00a0 relevant\u00a0 policies\u00a0 and\u00a0 procedures. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                              3. To\u00a0 resurrect\u00a0 the\u00a0 gardening\u00a0 group\u00a0 which\u00a0 will\u00a0 become a\u00a0 part\u00a0 of\u00a0 Bewholme Recreation\u00a0 Association.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                              4. To\u00a0 purchase\u00a0 tables\u00a0 for\u00a0 events<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                              5. To\u00a0 attempt\u00a0 to\u00a0 make\u00a0 up\u00a0 a\u00a0 second\u00a0 marquee\u00a0 by\u00a0 purchasing \/repairing\u00a0 parts. \u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                              6. We\u00a0 would\u00a0 like\u00a0 to\u00a0 continue\u00a0 having\u00a0 joint\u00a0 quiz\u00a0 nights\u00a0 with\u00a0 the\u00a0 Church\u00a0 the\u00a0 next\u00a0 possibly\u00a0 being in\u00a0 the\u00a0 Autumn, \u00a0 but\u00a0 previous\u00a0 to\u00a0 this we\u00a0 intend\u00a0 to\u00a0 arrange\u00a0 a\u00a0 summer\u00a0 quiz\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 marquee 23rd<\/sup>\u00a0 August 7pm\u00a0 provided\u00a0 toilets\u00a0 and\u00a0 tables if\u00a0 available\u00a0 from\u00a0 the\u00a0 church sharing proceeds\u00a0 as\u00a0 appropriate. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
