Bewholme Parish Council Minutes of the Meeting held on the 8 th April 2025 in St John the Baptist Church Bewholme.
Present: Cllr Mike Butler, Jim Froud (clerk), Cllr Ed Neilson. and 2 members of the Public and PCSO Adrian Clark.
Apologies: Cllr Graham Staples, Cllr Brenda Aylott, Ward Cllr Barbara Jefferson, Ward Cllr John Whittle and Cllr Stephen Arnott.
Declaration of Interest: None. Cllr Ed Neilson stood in as Chairman.
Minutes of the Previous Meeting: Minutes from the February 2025 meeting were agreed.
Matters Arising: Cllr Mike Butler had asked Peter Gawthorpe for a price to spread the planings on the verge opposite the church. Peter has kindly done the work for no charge, a letter is to be sent thanking him
Progress about bridge No1, a letter from Patrick Wharram was read out, the work is in the pipeline and will hopefully be completed soon.
Ward Councillors Report: No one present.
Police Report: PCSO reported about the Rural Task Force and the work that they are carrying out in the area.
Jim Froud to send an email asking for information for the marking of Farm Machinery, which is being carried out by the task force.
Speeding in the area is a major priority, Adrian is heavily involved with Hornsea, but will be widening the area to take in the Villages.
Speed indicator signs were discussed in detail with Adrian, it was thought that 2 would be needed for the
village one on Catfoss Road, and one on Atwick Road.
Adrian will supply information about the signs, Cllr Ed Neilson will look at the costings and the best
solutions for the equipment needed, then the funding can be applied for.
Cllr Ed Neilson ran through the major times that speeding occurs in Bewholme, it was thought that this would increase through the summer months.
Adrian reported about activity with youths trespassing at Little Atwick Farm, CCTV has been installed, but this is an ongoing problem.
Adrian urged people not to leave windows open during the summer months when they go out, as this is the main way that break ins occur.
Garages that face the road, don’t leave the doors open so that passers by can view what is being stored.

Highways: Cllr Mike Butler reported that the white lines need re-painting at the junctions of Atwick Road and Catfoss road in the village.
The finger post at Front Row, Bewholme needs repairing.
There are some bad potholes on Catfoss Road , to the East of Pasture House.
There is a lot of litter reported on Catfoss Road and Atwick Road, it wasn’t known if the litter pickers are
going out any time soon.

Finance: The following invoices were agreed, £46.00 for website domain.
Neighbourhood Watch: Nothing
Speed Awareness Signs: This has been discussed in the Police Report.
Correspondence: A letter from the Dogger Bank Windfarm, asking for representatives from the Parish to sit
on the funding panel was briefly discussed.
I was thought that monies will become available to the Parish, and that the Playing Field Committee may be interested in following this up.

Cllr Graham Staples has been taken poorly into hospital last week, and is now recovering at home, Cllr Ed Neilson to organise a get well card to send to Graham.
Any Other Business: Jim Froud asked if the August 2025 meeting could be brought forward to the 5rd of
August 2025.
This was agreed, Pat Trender to be notified.
Parishioners Questions: Reports of the new digital phone service coming to Bewholme were discussed with
2 worried parishioners. There is a low mobile signal in the village, and if a power cut should happen the new phones will not work.
Cllr Ed Neilson thought that the deadline was not until 2027, however he will look into the matter and report back with any findings.
