Bewholme Parish Council Minutes of the Meeting held on the 11 th August 2026 in
the John the Baptist Church, Bewholme.
Present; Jim Froud (clerk), Cllr Graham Staples, Cllr Mike Butler, Cllr Brenda Aylott, Cllr Mike Butler,
Ward Cllr Barbara Jefferson, Ward councillor John Whittle, 1 Member of the public.
Apologies: Cllr Phil Elliott.
Declaration of Interest: None.
Minutes of the Previous Meeting: Minutes from the June 2026 meeting were agreed.
Matters Arising: Cllr Brenda Aylott asked about the pockets of land that have been submitted for
methodology to ERYC, this does not mean that the land will gain permission for building development.
This is a consultation process, more information can be found on the ERYC website.
Ward Councillors Report: ERYC are in recess at the moment, everything is on hold, but there is a massive
workload of surveys that have to be completed within a certain time frame. Nothing to report.
Police Report: No one present.
The same ongoing problems with E-bikes, Anti- social behaviour, Drugs and items being stolen from parked
cars are reported on the Police Forum, nothing specific to Bewholme.
Planning: nothing.
Parish Website: Nothing.
Playing Field: The 2 Leylandi trees have been taken down, hedge cutting will take place in September.
Telephone Box Maintenance:The painting of the Telephone Box needs completing, the Defibrillator signs to
replace the old signs are £80.00 plus VAT, this was agreed.
It was agreed that a window cleaner is needed to keep the Telephone Box looking pristine, Cllr Graham
Staples to ask for a quotation. The question was asked about Defibrillator checks, this has been carried out by
Ell Elliott in the past, Cllr Graham Staples to enquire.
Highways: Cllr Mike butler reported a deep gully at the side of the carriageway, outside of Four Winds
bungalow on Catfoss Road. Both sides of the road from North End Farm to Low Bonwick have been filled
with road planings, this is very dangerous to cyclists, it needs properly tarmacking, JF to report.
Finance: The balance of money from the old account has still not been transferred. JF to contact the
ombudsman to report the issues. Payment of £29.50 for Plants and Compost was agreed.
Neighbourhood Watch: Nothing.
Correspondence: Funding available again for Speed Awareness Signs. Ward Cllr Barbara Jefferson will
assist with attaining permission for erecting the signs. JF to copy Barbara in.
A letter from Carole Johnson requesting information about Village Shows was discussed, JF to circulate.
Any Other Business: Jim Froud asked if the December meeting could be brought forward to the 1st of
December 2026, this was agreed.
Parishioners Questions: The water leaks on Water Lane is ongoing, misleading communication with the
residents of the Lane has been holding things up. It was reported that this is a Yorkshire Water issue, and a
full new water main down the Lane is needed, for a permanent fix.
